THE NOBLE QURAN

The Quran is the Book of Allah that He has revealed to His slave and Messenger, Mohammad ibn Abdullah, Salla Allahu Alayhi Wasallam, the last and final Messenger and Prophet from Allah to all the people of earth. Allah has dared the eloquent Arabs to produce even one chapter like the Quran, and they could not do it. This was and still is one of the greatest signs that the Quran is from Allah and not the creation of Mohammad or other human beings. Mankind are able to produce something similar to what other men create, such as poems, for example. The Quran is different, since it is from Allah. Allah said in the Quran, what translated means, {And if you (Arab pagans, Jews and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (the Quran) to Our slave (Prophet Mohammad), then produce a Surah of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful. But if you do it not, and you can never do it, then fear the Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.} [2:23-24].

The Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet are the two resources of Islam, as Allah said, what translated means, {And We have sent down to you the Book (the Quran) as an exposition of everything, a guidance, a mercy, and glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to Allah as Muslims).} [16:89], and, {This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.} [5:3].

Allah has made the Quran a source of guidance and the distinction between correct faith and belief and all types of Shirk and deviation. The Quran is also the distinction between truth and falsehood, what Allah has prohibited and what He has allowed, and what pleases Him and what makes Him angry. The Quran also separates the ranks of the believers from the ranks of the disbelievers and makes each path clear and plain. Allah has also made the Quran easy to understand and memorize, {And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?} [54:17], and, {This is a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses.} [38:29], and, {Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions.} [4:82].

Allah has warned people against ignoring or turning away from the Quran, when He said, what translated means, {Thus We relate to you (O Mohammad) some information of what happened before. And indeed We have given you from Us a Reminder (this Quran). Whoever turns away from it (this Quran), verily, they will bear a heavy burden (of sins) on the Day of Resurrection.} [20:99-100], and, {And when it is said to them, “Come to what Allah has sent down and to the Messenger (Mohammad),” you see the hypocrites turn away from you with aversion.} [4:61], thus describing the attitude of the hypocrites towards the Quran.

Allah has perfected His bounty on the Muslims by swearing that He will preserve it from all types of alterations, additions, deletions, or corruption

Allah has also commanded His Messenger to refer to the Quran for judgment in every matter, major or minor, {And We have sent down to you (O Mohammad) the Book (this Quran) in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and Mohayminan (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures). So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth that has come to you. To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah willed, He would have made you one nation, but that (He) may test you in what He has given you; so strive as in a race in good deeds. The return of you (all) is to Allah; then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ. And so judge (you O Mohammad) between them by what Allah has revealed and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they turn you (O Mohammad) far away from some of that which Allah has sent down to you. And if they turn away, then know that Allah’s Will is to punish them for some sins of theirs. And truly, most of men are Fasiqh (rebellious and disobedient to Allah). Do they then seek the judgement of (the Days of) Ignorance? And who is better in judgement than Allah for a people who have firm Faith?} [5:48-50].

Since the Quran is this important, Allah has perfected His bounty on the Muslims by swearing that He will preserve it from all types of alterations, additions, deletions, or corruption, {Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the revelation and surely, We will guard it (from corruption and change).} [15:9], and, {And verily, it is an honorable respected Book. Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise.} [41:41-42]. The Quran is hence a Book that can never be changed or altered. Imam Muslim narrated that the Messenger of Allah said that Allah said to him, “I have revealed to you a Book that can never be washed off by water.” Hence, the water of the entire earth cannot wash off the Quran, even if all the tyrants of earth try to do so. Preserving the Quran is thus a major aspect of Islam. Yet, the following sects have disagreed with this fact:

1 — Those who claim that the Quran was altered and changed by the companions of the Prophet, claiming that he had erased the Ayat that curse them and affirm Ali’s leadership of the Muslim Ummah. This sect also claimed that Ali has the original Quran and that he has presented it to Abu Bakr and Umar who said that they have no need for it! They also claim that afterwards, Ali kept the Quran in his family, until the Quran disappeared with the twelfth Imam who went into hiding. They claim that the Quran that Muslims read now is the one that was altered by the companions, and that upon the appearance of the hidden Imam, who disappeared centuries ago as we have stated, he will bring the original, true Quran with him!

the Quran is the Muslim constitution that must be implemented and referred to in each and every matter of life and religion

This deviant claim contradicts the Quran in which Allah has vowed to preserve it from corruption. If their claim is true, and if the true Quran was not available to the Muslims ever since Ali kept it in his family, then Allah’s proof against mankind would not have been complete. Their claim entails the disappearance of the Quran from the lives of Muslims even during the time when Ali was the Caliph and until now, remaining in its corrupted form all this time. This is not possible, for it entails Allah’s abandoning the Muslims by leaving them without a guidance and a true Book with which they can worship Him and implement His commands. There is no doubt that believing that the Quran was changed and corrupted is Kufr that nullifies Islam.

2 — Those who state that the Quran is not a Book that should be referred to for judgment in matters of life and state. This sect claims that the Quran is merely a Book of worship and that it should not be used for judgement in political, economic, judicial or government aspects. This is Kufr because the Quran is the Muslim constitution that must be implemented and referred to in each and every matter of life and religion. Allah has described those who do not refer to the Quran for judgment in such matters as eating the meat of dead animals, when He said, {Eat not (O believers) of that (meat) on which Allah’s Name has not been pronounced, for sure it is Fisqh (a sin). And certainly, the devils do inspire their friends (from mankind) to dispute with you, and if you obey them, then you would indeed be Mushrikeen.} [6:121]. Further, Allah said, {And so judge (you O Mohammad) between them by what Allah has revealed and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they turn you (O Mohammad) far away from some of that which Allah has sent down to you.} [5:49]. Hence, those who announce their belief that the Quran is not a Book of judgment in life affairs, such as politics, the economy, and so forth, will have committed Kufr in Allah, just as Allah has said, {Then do you believe in a part of the Scripture and reject the rest? Then what is the recompense of those who do so among you, except disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be consigned to the most grievous torment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.} [2:85].
