Islamic School Mission



Masjid Assunnah school is operated by a body of volunteer parents who perform the
 education and the administration functions. Instructions are given in English and Arabic by a highly motivated team of volunteers, some of whom are graduates of the same program years earlier.  The School operates on two semesters and a summer break. Classes are held on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  Recess scheduled activities are rotated among classes and levels up to lunch time 12.30 PM. Duhur prayers are then held in a group setting that includes children and parents, from 2:00 PM to 2:15 PM. In addition to regular Saturday morning classes, youth students attend monthly sessions facilitated by the Imam of the masjid where youth topics are raised and discussed in the context of the Quran and Sunnah.

Our mission

To teach our children the principals of Quran and Sunnah that will help them make good choices in life and become strong, confident, and successful Muslims in society. In partnership with parents, we strive to achieve our goals by promoting Islamic values and practices to our children from an early age while strengthening the concept of Oneness of Allah (Tawheed) and the teaching of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Students are taught three main subjects: Quran, Arabic language and, Islamic studies.

Quran

Students memorize specific portions of the Qur’an. By the 3rd level, students are taught reading Quran using tajweed directions with focus on Annuraniyya reading rules. The aim is for students to be able to read, understand, and reflect on the Quran.

Islamic Studies

Students are introduced to the essentials of their faith. The lessons will cover many aspects of Islam including: Iman, Fiqh ul-Ibadat, Fiqh ul-mu’amalat, Qur’an, Hadeeth, Seerah, Islamic character education, and the Muslim world.

Arabic Language

Arabic Language

Students are taught basic vocabulary, spelling, and reading. They are also periodically evaluated based on his or her ability to read in Arabic (fluency)… Reading fluency is a child’s ability to read correctly, quickly, and with expression.
